On May 16, 2013, HHB Canada, SSL, and Canadian Musician magazine will host an intimate and informative session of mixing tips and recording techniques with Grammy-winning producer and mixer David Bottrill (Tool, Korn, Peter Gabriel, Smashing Pumpkins, Stone Sour). Bottrill is a longtime SSL user with extensive experience on the AWS series Analogue Consoles.
Attendees can watch, listen, and learn as Bottrill mixes a studio session using the AWS 924 from Solid State Logic.
There will be two sessions – the first from 3-5 p.m., and the second from 7-9 p.m. The event takes place at 260 King Street East, Suite 205 (2nd Floor) in Toronto. This event is free, but tickets must be obtained by going to www.aws924.eventbrite.com.

Vocal Music Lovers will celebrate a cappella music at SING! The Toronto Vocal Arts Festival, taking place May 9-12 at Harbourfront Centre. Almost 100 performances, workshops, and other events will showcase the best of Canadian and international talent; 80 per cent will be free to attend.
Launched in 2012, SING! The Toronto Vocal Arts Festival features world-class concert performances in a wide range of genres, including pop and jazz groups, classical and gospel choirs, and world music ensembles. Toronto’s only a cappella festival educates as well as entertains, with industry veterans leading vocal workshops for singers of all ages and levels of experience. SING! The Toronto Vocal Arts Festival will also offer a school workshop day, public sing-along, and presentation of the SING! Legacy Award to Toronto native Frank Busseri of The Four Lads.

The Unison Benevolent Fund and music instrument retailer Long & McQuade have joined forces on a unique fundraising initiative. Long & McQuade, at all 64 locations across Canada, will be offering $5 rental coupons for only $2, with all the proceeds going to Unison. The program runs from March 21 to April 21, 2013. Point of purchase materials promoting the fundraiser will be present in all Long & McQuade locations.
